Scale Models

Here are some photos of my Scale model rockets.

On the left, that's me standing next to my Estes Mercury Atlas, On the right the Atlas being launched. This photo was taken at a different time.

Another set of photos of my Atlas.  Both of these photos were taken at the same launch.

Here is my Black Brant VB.  It was built from plans in Peter Alway's Scale Bash, Build and Fly Scale Model Rockets from Non-Scale Commercial KIts.  These photos were taken at one of my rocket clubs, The Pittsburgh Space Command annual picnic, Rockets and Relaxation.

On the left a smaller model of the Black BrantVB.  It flies on mini engines.  On the right is my model of the Atlas-Centaur.(The white rocket.)  They are both built from plans by Peter Alway.

Here are two of my V-2s.  On the left is the Estes kit.   Right, is a V-2 that I entered in the Sport Scale event at NARAM-41.  It is another Peter Alway plan.

Both of these photos were taken in June 2008 at Camp Lutherlyn during my rocket club, The PIttsburgh Space Command, launch.  On the left is my Quest Nike Smoke. Right is my Semroc Aerobee- Hi.

That's me on the left with my Estes/North Coast Rocketry Patriot missile. The photo was taken at the NARAM-41 sport range.  That was the rocket's first flight.  The right photo is the Patriot lifting off on a G80-4 at one of the Pittsburgh Tripoli Dragon's Fire launches.

Here is my Estes Saturn V being launched on a scale like pad that I built. This is the first launch. This photo was taken at the Brookville Bash picnic in 1992.  The Brookville Bash was the predecessor to the Rocket and Relaxation picnic that the PIttsburgh Space Command has now.

This is the last time I launched the Saturn V.  It was launched on a E9-4.  The main body landed in a tree.  With the help of fellow Pittsburgh Space Command member Dick Freed, we got the main body out of the tree.  The main body was damaged.  I have replace the section of body tube on the rocket and repainted it white.  When I get around to it, I will paint the role patterns and put new decals on the rocket.  Hopefully, the rocket will fly again.

Here are two photos of the damage to the main body of the Saturn V.
